Brothers Martin and Steven have taken different approaches to the changes in their small Cornish village. Martin is a fisherman without a boat, selling his catches door-to-door, while Steven uses their late father’s boat to offer cruises to the growing tourist trade. To get by, they’ve sold their family home to the Leighs, outsiders who find their new surroundings not as idyllic as they imaged. As past and future collide, tensions threaten to boil over.
Shot on 16mm with clockwork cameras, Bait offers a dreamlike experience of the breakdowns in communication in the perpetual struggles between tradition and change.
