It’s 1995, and, having graduated university, aspiring writer Joanna takes an assistant’s position at a prestigious literary agency in New York City. One of her responsibilities is responding to the fan mail of one of the agency’s biggest clients - the reclusive and legendary JD Salinger, author of The Catcher of the Rye. Due to her boss’s dislike of computers, Joanna must type every generic response on a typewriter. But when she starts to personalise some replies, she unlocks a voice that may lead to her own literary success.
Based on the memoir My Salinger Year by Joanna Rakoff, this is a drama about a young woman taking her first steps into the world, discovering its offers as well as herself.
