Pig (2021)

Nicolas Cage gives one of his best performances in this debut by writer-director Michael Sarnoski about a man forced to confront his past.

Rob lives in the forests of Oregon with Apple, his prize-winning pig, and together they seek out truffles for Rob to sell. But following a violent home invasion, Rob awakens to find Apple missing. His search to find her takes him back to the city of Portland and a life he has since long left behind. As he journeys deeper into his past, sharing his name and reputation, it becomes clear that Rob is not just a mere truffle hunter.

“Quiet, unforced and delicate, Pig provides a forum for Nicolas Cage, one of our most dazzling showmen, to get serious and burrow more deeply into his talent than he has in years.” Empire

“a small film with a few big surprises executed very well, and well worth going into as blind as possible.” Slate

“so much richer and stranger than the Nicolas Cage revenge thriller it appears to be” The AV Club
