Maud, a private palliative carer, is assigned to take care of the terminally ill American dancer Amanda in a small English seaside town. Amanda confides her fear of death to Maud, who is a devout Catholic. Through conversations with God, and having previously lost a patient in her care, Maud comes to believe that she has been sent here to save Amanda. Can Maud achieve this? And is it God working through her, or something much worse?
