Pioneering Belgian filmmaker, photographer, and artist Agnès Varda (Cléo from 5 to 7) turns the camera around in this insightful documentary about herself and work. Using clips from her career spanning six decades, Agnès offers personal understandings and reflections on her artistic journey, the topics she tackled, and the things she loved - from her husband Jacques Demy to cats to colours to heart-shaped potatoes. It is both playful and wise, exactly like her.
A director loved by all, this proved to be her final film as she died a month after it premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival, aged 90. It is an imaginative autobiography by one of cinema’s most idiosyncratic and profound figures who eschewed convention.
